Saturday Morning from 12am – 8:30 am, some of our players participated in the Step Up to the Plate Charity Baseball 24 Hour Marathon. We were well represented by Ernie Meza, Rex Cone, Lucas Nickerson, Chris Taylor, and Scott Dickens. Thanks you all so much for coming down and doing a great job to represent our team and league. Unfortunately, we couldn’t all play on the same team… Scott, Ernie, and Rex played on Team Yellow, and Lucas and Chris were on the green team. Ernie, Rex, and Scott each got hits in their first at bats (actually Rex’s first 4, and Scott’s first 2). I (Scott) played the longest 8.5 hours, followed closely by Ernie and Rex. We stayed well after the sun had come up and the lights were turned off. Lucas and Chris also played at least 3 hours each. Thank you guys again for your committment to show up and play at a very unpopular time, and also for helping contribute by raising money for all 3 worthy charities… the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Last year this event raise 20,000 dollars, and when all is said and done, I wouldn’t be surprised if we raised more this year.
