Knights are Going to the ‘Ship

The Bristol Knights beat the Tri State Wet Noodles 5 to 4 in extra innings. It wasn’t the prettiest game but the Knights did not go quietly into the night. They did move on. Kyle Faust was effective all night, holding the Wet Noodles to 4 garbage runs on a bizarre grounder and a 2 run lob wedge to right field. Just to clear the air about the hit runner, below is the exact ruling courtesy of MLB.com. You decide.

  • Rule 5.09: (f) A fair ball touches a runner or an umpire on fair territory before it touches an infielder including the pitcher, or touches an umpire before it has passed an infielder other than the pitcher; runners advance, if forced. If a fair ball goes through, or by, an infielder, no other infielder has a chance to make a play on the ball (Fergie had a chance on the ball) and the ball touches a runner immediately behind the infielder that the ball went through, or by, the ball is in play and the umpire shall not declare the runner out. If a fair ball touches a runner after being deflected by an infielder, the ball is in play and the umpire shall not declare the runner out.

The Knights offense was led back the Wet Noodles lack of defense. I’m pretty sure the Wet Noodles left their gloves in the car, like Faust did his wife.

Lets reflect back on how much they suck giving us 4 of 5 runs.

0-0, man on second, Eddie hits a simple groundball to first base booted, Knights lead 1-0.

4-1, man on 1st and 2nd, Paul hits a simple groundball to third, he air mails it over first baseman’s head, Knights trail 4-2

4-2, man on 2nd and 3rd, Justin hits another simple groundball to third, same dude lets it right through his legs, Knights trail 4-3.

4-4, Taylor strikes out swinging reaches first on a bad throw by the catcher. Chris Dickens get down a bunt with two strikes. Fergie crushes a walk off simple groundball to second base that goes right through the five hole, Knights win 5-4.

Other Highlights Include:

Gilbert’s record breaking number of penis jokes in a baseball game.

Fergie’s 2 out RBI single to tie the game.

Rex getting tossed out at home because he didn’t run right away… FVCKING REX!

Rex getting a playoff win after throwing 6 pitches.

Scott not throwing with Taylor because it would be unlucky for him to stop keeping score. 1, 2, 3. 1,2,3. 1,2,3.

Eddie not talking about the wedding.
