BRISTOL KNIGHTS OPENING DOUBLEHEADER
Game 1: East Hartford Angels 8 – Bristol Knights 1… Angels Dominate…
The first game of the Bristol Knights season started on a sour note. Rex Cone was not his usual self on the mound, and struggled through 3 1/3 innings on the mound. He was relieved by Matt Doyle who did a nice job finally putting out the East Hartford Bats. The Knights we led on offense by Cone who knocked in the only Knights run with a single, while Rick Barrett had 2 singles. For the Angels, Ryan Gott led the way on the mound, throwing a complete game while keeping the Knights off balance the entire game. Will Delgado had 3 hits and 2 RBI, and 2 RunsÖ while Jackson Mistretta had a hit and 2 runs scored.
Game 2: Tri-County Twins 0: Bristol Knights 8 – Barrett Throws a No-No…
In the second game of the day for the Knights, the team found their bats, defense and pitching all at once, and came out to hand the Twins a very tough loss. The Knights we led offensively by Paul Fanceschi 2 hits and 2 RBI, Chris Klepps had 2 hits and 2 runs scored, Rick Blais had a double, single and RBI, and Jay Gilbert got on base 3 times with a stolen base and RBI. The defense in game 2 was markedly better as well the defense was challenged often, and they were up to the task all night long. Sean Ferguson, Chris Klepps, Chris Taylor, Ernie Meza, and Phil Dauria all had some spectacular plays to keep hits off the board. The real stoy all night was the one going on between catcher Drew Gallagher and pitcher Rick Barret. Drew kept the batters thinking, and Barrett delivered in every way. He spotted pitches, and threw numerous ground ball outs that the infield ate up. Rick was in top form… striking out only 3, but NEVER letting the Twins look comfortable in the box. And the 6 or so times the Twins did hit the ball, the Knights made heroic plays to keep the no-hitter intact. In the end, Rick threw the 7inning complete game shutout NO-HITTER, and doing it very resourcefully… only throwing around 85 pitches, and only allowing 6 base runners (3 walks, 1 HBP, 1 FC, and 1 error). Rick ruled the night… not bad for his first time pitching for the team since fall ball a few years

And now, time for Rex’s perspective…
Knights begin their quest to defend their title.
The Knights opened up their season Thursday with a double hedder against the East Hartford Angels and that blue team from east bum fuck.
In game one, the Knights appeared to have celebrated last year’s title a little too much. They came out flatter than Natalie Portman.
Rex, who appears to have added a cup size or two, pitched like shit giving up 7 runs. In the 8-1 loss, almost nothing went well. The pitching sucked, the defense sucked, and the offense was as useless as a poopy flavored lollypop. It was a wonderful start to the season.
Game 2 on the other hand, the Knights looked like the championship team of last season. The pitching didn’t suck, the defense didn’t suck, and the offense was as useful as an umbrella in a shit storm; a complete 180 from game one. Ricky Barrett threw a no hitter with the help of several great plays in the field. Dope plays from Chris Taylor, Ernie Meza, and Chris Klepps helped preserve the no-no. The Knights hit the crap out of the ball and also benefitted from the blue team from east bum fuck’s right fielder. He was terrible.
Notable Moments:
Rick Blais, sitting peacefully in the dugout gets struck by a broken bat.
Ron Preluzzo has a custom made, shiny, fitted, Bristol Knights one flap batting helmet.
Hey Ernie!… Where’ s Bert?
The classic E-6 4-2-5-2-4 Put out.
The infield fly call/ play/ defense/ base running goat rodeo. What the hell was that?
Jay Gilbert running. Just Hilarious.
Nice job fellas. Don’t think we every had one of those in our history. Next time do it against the Angels who decided it was time to break out the fancy handshakes and jumps when they scored against the Knights.
