Lucas Nickerson never felt quite right to start the game on Friday. He started the game with a sore arm, and was pitching on very little rest, literally. Lucas only got about 45minutes sleep in the day leading up to the game… due to his commitment to his projects at ESPN. So Lucas showed up and struggled in inning one, hitting 2, walking 3, and giving up 4 runs. Then his wonderful savior of a girl friend showed up and saved the day. She brought him some advil, which he used to dull the pain in his arm. From there, Lucas got it together, and never gave up another run. He went the distance, and got the win in a darkness shortened 6inning game.
The big hit that put the Knights over the top and clinched the win, came in the bottom of the 6th off Ernie Meza’s bat. The bases were loaded, 2 outs, and the Knights down 4-3. Ernie laced a 3-2 pitch over the shortstops head to left field, scoring 2 and giving the Knights the lead for good. Scott Dickens added an insurance run by dropping a single into right field scoring one, while Ernie made the last out at the plate trying to score one more.
BIG ERN!
BIG ERN came through after watching a VERY close 2-2 pitch… haha
