Below are the ones from the recent email

Thought I would pass along a couple baseball articles Ive read recently that if any of you are like me, will really enjoy. The common thread in all of these is getting inside the players head of what they look for/how they play the game. Hitting, stealing, and framing pitches.

First off is an ESPN Insider ($ Sub. Required) on Joey Votto where he talks about his approach. He doesn’t look fastball and adjust, he actually tries to think along with the pitcher when it comes to pitch selection and location. Quick fact, since 09, there have been more no hitters thrown across MLB than infield pop ups hit by Joey Votto. Seriously. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9067809/cincinnati-reds-hitter-joey-votto-cares-more-consistency-rbis-espn-magazine

Next is a piece on Coco Crisp and what he looks for when stealing bags. Writer Jonah Keri goes through specific stolen bases from the past few years and Crisp breaks it all down. Complete with the relevant video/animated gifs for reference as you read. Its awesome. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9072118/jonah-keri-art-stealing-bases

And finally, a little something for the catchers. Jose Molina talks about his craft of framing pitches and stealing strikes for his pitchers through his set up and glove movement.

Enjoy.
