The schedule has been updated to reflect the 2 rainouts, a potential makeup date next WED (8/3), and to fix an error on the picture I included of the bracket.
Game tonight against Tri-County Twins, 6pm at Bristol Eastern. GET THERE EARLY… to either help me prep the field if it rained, or hopefully to take BP. Try and get there before 5 if possible.
As for this week… tons of frustration and wasted time. Probably my most frustrating in trying to run this team ever. 2 teams lack of communication and preparedness completely wasted our time (and gas). We drove out to West Road, Marlborough on Monday only to find they never tarped the homeplate and mound, didn’t have any speedy dry they thought they did, AND no one even checked the field until their coach arrived at 5:30. On Tuesday, I tried all day to contact the 2 coaches from Glastonbury… letting them know I saw we had a round of showers coming through before game time, but if they tarped the field we might be ok. After not hearing anything all day and talking to Chris Barsa on the phone as I drove to the game, he said he thought that the Glastonbury coaches were on vacation… which I didn’t know. So I pulled over, just on chance to check email on my phone, in case someone sent me something… and just a few minutes earlier, I find out a player from their team emailed me to say they were cancelling. This was after I had already left work, and they were cancelling without ever prepping the field for rain, or ever checking it either. I had to then text everyone again to say go home. TERRIBLE. Wednesday was a beautiful day, and we got a game in vs 1st place Elmers, but after a hot start, couldn’t keep scoring runs. Faust threw well for 3 innings, but hit a snag in the 4th giving up 5 runs. Lucas came in and shut the door, and we had a few nice defensive plays, but we couldn’t score any more runs, and took the loss.
Reminder, we have our Muzzy Double header on Monday 8/1, and likely have a makeup game next Wednesday 8/3 (not confirmed yet) at Riverfront in Glastonbury (a chance it could be a DH if we get rained out tonight).
