The 2 seed Knights beat and eliminated the top seeded Glastonbury Pirates, 1-0. In another pitcher dominated nail-biter, Matt Niedzwiecki was nearly un-hitable. Matt threw a complete game shutout 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts. A dominant performance against the best team in the regular season. Matt Spence was nearly as dominant for the Pirates, only allowing 5 hits and 1 run… but that one run was enough. The Knights scored in the first and that was all that was needed. For the Bristol offense… Eddie Dickman had 2 hits including double and RBI, while Steve Clout had 2 hits (a double and triple) and scored the only run. Earl Oakes also added a double.
The Bristol Knights now square off with the Willimantic Ridges in games 1 & 2 of the best of 3 Championship series starting at 6pm at Rotary Field in South Windsor TONIGHT (THU). If the teams split, its winner take all on Friday.
